Education Assistants (Learning Support) - Senior School

The Roles: Level 3 (Multiple positions available) & Level 4 (One position available)

The Educational Assistant (EA) is a critical role within the educational institution that demands a high level of commitment, experience, and interpersonal skills. The EA's primary responsibility is to provide support to classroom teachers and other staff members in addressing the diverse learning needs of students. The EA serves as a resource person for teachers in designing and implementing instructional strategies that maximise student achievement and success.

The EA’s role is instrumental in promoting inclusion and supporting the learning of all students, including those with special needs, and students with other challenges that may impact their learning. The EA works closely with classroom teachers to monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and facilitate targeted interventions that enhance students' learning and progress.

To be successful in this role, the EA's should possess strong advocacy of inclusive practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of diverse learning needs, and a profound knowledge of evidence-based practices and trends in learning support services. The EA must be flexible, adaptive to change, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Education Assistant Level 4 (EA4)

In addition to providing the above support to teachers and other staff members, the EA4 collaborates with the Learning Support Coordinator and Head of Senior School to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to learning support services. This involves developing and implementing programs, and initiatives that align with the broader educational goals of the institution.

To be successful in this role, the EA4 should possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an in-depth understanding of diverse learning needs, and a profound knowledge of evidence-based practices and trends in learning support services. The EA4 must be flexible, adaptive to change, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Head of Technical and Applied Studies (TAS)

The Head of Technical and Applied Studies (TAS) fulfils a key role within the Senior School and is responsible for, under the direction of the Dean of Studies and Head of Senior School, the educational leadership within the TAS Department and wider College community. This leadership encompasses curriculum, pedagogy and professional growth and development of staff. The Head of TAS is responsible for leading and transforming a team of talented educators to enable best practice learning and engagement for students in Years 7-12.

A love of teaching and learning, initiative, an optimistic outlook, great organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to professional learning are all pre-requisites for the position.

Key Selection Criteria

The Key Selection Criteria that will be used to select the Head of TAS and must be addressed in the application are:

  • Qualifications in, and experience teaching, TAS up to and including Stage 6.
  • Knowledge of current educational issues, particularly in TAS education.
  • Ability to lead a team effectively and positively in a school environment.
  • Ability to plan, implement and review academic programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and diplomatically with all stakeholders in a school environment to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively with staff and parents of the College.

Position Description - Head of TAS


College Chaplain

Reporting to the Principal, and working closely with the College Leadership Team, the College Chaplain is responsible for leading the Chaplaincy Program. They will also support the wellbeing of students by providing pastoral care services and implementing strategies that support the wellbeing of the wider school community.

The College Chaplain may be involved in teaching the RAVE program to students in K-12 either directly as an accredited teacher, or as a support for the RAVE co-ordinator.

The College Chaplain will convey the Christian ethos of the College within the Anglican tradition. They will also facilitate and maintain relationships with the College community, and Anglican parishes within the Diocese of Wangaratta.
